You're going to be blowing a lot of your load overall, but you can do this. I was under the impression that "When you take the attack action you can make one additional attack as part of the action" entails the initial attack action and not each extra attack. 2 attacks-level 5 extra attack. It's similar to the dunemancy theme in that it's ultimately just a duplicate of myself, but I feel I'm able to branch it out just enough to make it clear that it isn't just a potential version of myself. What are peoples thoughts on this? The image of the GS coming out of his shadow with his shadow and just wrecking your day then fading back into nothing is too good to pass up. I could totally see it flavored as a psionic ability. That's three. Echo Knight 6/Bladesinger 5 is interesting, too. I think i'm going to try and make one for my next character, whenever that happens. If your Echo is already active (it should be, since there is no duration), you can probably use Hunter's Mark. Echo fighter is my new favorite too, beating out cavalier (unpopular favorite it would seem). I also like the tactical advantages, but I feel that making it unlimited is way too strong. Add 3 levels in rogue and take assassin archetype, and you've got 8 auto-crits if the target is surprised. Additionally, echo fighter has some nice out of combat uses, which is also something fighter has struggled with. EK will always be my favorite fighter, but echo knight is a close second. It leapt to the top of my list for fighter subclasses, even ahead of Battlemaster, and I can't wait to actually play one in a game when quarantine is over. This subclass is very difficult to seperate the flavor from the mechanics, because the flavor is what defined the mechanics. everyone missinterprits the echo knights unleash incarnation... whenever you take the attack action, sure. Knowing how to position and just understanding the tactical aspect of DnD is something that no one ever really talks about in terms of the power level of classes. Also, not only is this possible....but the build is actually really, really cool from a flavor and "mental cinema" standpoint. Or am I missing something / fucking my rules up? I actually am working with my DM currently to reflavor the echo knight to match my existing character. (For an example of this in action, consider Chain Pact familiars, which will break the shit out of your game in the hands of a creative player who knows the rules well.). The mechanics only define the end result, there are plenty of ways to reflavor it. Bladesinger 6/Echo Knight 4 would be pretty cool. I agree entirely. This without even optional/expanded rules like flanking, shoving, pushing and climbing. You Grapple through the Echo, although I am uncertain on whether this would require you to have a free hand, or if your movement is now affected by the Echo grappling. Just take Polearm Master. You get strong burst damage, but you're spending a lot of resources to do it. It's very viable without being power creep above the stuff already out there. Sorcerer feels ripe for some awesomeness. With fighter 11 youd be able to do 10, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, aid other tabletop gamers in creating memorable characters, Press J to jump to the feed. As the Echo is not a creature, RAW it does not grant a Rogue Sneak Attack. 1 attack- bonus action attack with war cleric ability. So I was looking at the echo knight and was thinking how cool it looks. EDIT: Sneak attack only applies once per round turn. This is 4 already, now if we action surge we get another attack action, giving us 2 more attacks and allowing us to use our level 3 echo knight feature again bringing us to 7 total attacks. It's live on DnD Beyond or you can get a hardcover....if there are stores open near you or Amazon has already dropped it off :(, it also get's insane when you use the 2019 UA ranger, Extra attack (I did an attack option, right?). 1 attack -level 3 echo knight feature. Gloomstalker's ability gives you an additional attack when you take the attack action. I was thinking of doing an Echo Knight/ Revived Rogue and reflavor the echos as ghosts of past lives. I realized that last night and since my GS just hit level 4 I plan to MC into echo now just for this. Just want to give everyone the heads up. An Echo Knight who fights alongside an ancestral spirit could be super cool , if the DM is lax with the 'copy of yourself' thing - but I'm struggling to think of more ways to reflavor it. You're just supplementing what you can do with some casting. Add in great weapon master feat and we are looking at some serious hurt. You could easily reflavor it as Bilocation, which is a feature in real world mysticism. Knowing how to position and just understanding the tactical aspect of DnD is something that no one ever really talks about in terms of the power level of classes. So I don't think it applies as extra attacks are not the "attack action."
