Usually these things read like a bunch of disjointed episodes, barely strung together, and you can see just how hard it was for the cowriter or ghostwriter to pull any remotely interesting thoughts out of the author. This is a sensitive, perceptive, astute and honest account of a life lived in the shadows of legends.
